Playtime for the Suicidal

Playtime for the Suicidal

a cleverly wrought dramatic conceit - The Bush Theatre

stylishly intelligent - The Royal Court

Playtime for the Suicidal is a psychological drama set in a therapists office. Shocking at times, yet darkly comic at others, it concerns the story of a young man with depression who, in desperation, seeks help from a mysterious therapist with questionable ethics. As the play progresses, the therapists comments become increasingly disturbed and the play culminates in an explosive showdown.

Recent Review -

In the dialogue the darkest recesses of the mind are explored without mercy. No slime pit of erotic imagination is left unexamined. No punches are pulled. Nothing is unsaid. It is this unpleasantness that powers the tension in what is in fact a very intense psychological thriller with a twist in the tail. To detail the plot in such a work inevitably reduces its impact - like explaining "mother" to someone about to watch Psycho for the first time.
